Take Me Out To The Ball Game!!

Thursday, 10 July 2008 09:50 by Rosemary

Tootsie!Summertime means so many different things to different people: a break from studies at school ,  lazy days on sandy beaches, fun at family picnics.  Growing up in MY family, summer meant ONE thing:BASEBALL!!  My family's obsession with America's favorite sport began because of my younger brother, Joe, and his amazing pitching talent.  Joe started his "career" in the sport at the ripe old age of 7.  Every summer after that, for the next 15 or so years, was spent cheering Joe on in his baseball pursuits. Joe's pitching sent him to college on baseball scholarships and won him an offer to play for the San Diego Padres in the late 70's.  My brother, always a humble soul, was afraid he didn't have "the stuff" to be a super star athlete so he chose instead to attend and graduate from law school.  He never gave up his love of baseball, though.  Nor did my parents.  The 3 of them engaged in spirited, friendly rivalry every summer due to my brother's love for the St. Louis Cardinals and my parents' staunch support of the Chicago Cubs. Right up until the summer of 2006, when our beloved dad passed away at the age of 82, my brother and my parents would get together to listen to or watch every Cardinal-Cubs game. High stakes bets - dinners at favorite restaurants :)- and good natured ribbing always accompanied these happy events.  Even after my dad's passing, my mom and Joe still looked forward to the summer of 2007 so that they could continue their cherished tradition.  To our family's shock and extreme sorrow, Joe passed away very unexpectedly in January of 2007.  I don't think anyone, even my mother, had the heart to follow much baseball last season.  I welcomed a litter of beautiful fawn and red frenchies on Oct. 4th (my mom's birthday!)  and advertised them for sale at the end of that month.  Within a few days of posting their ads, I received an email inquiring about the sweet little fawn/black masked girl in the litter. Tootsie Baby The lady interested in her claimed to be Ashley Papelbon, wife of Boston Red Sox pitcher Jonathan Papelbon.  "Oh sure" , I thought.  In this business you get used to receiving LOTS of inquiries from people trying to pull one scam or another.  Since Jonathan Papelbon was all over the news at the time for having thrown the winning pitch of the World Series, I assumed some enterprising soul was trying to use Jonathan's fame to "relieve" me of cash or a puppy :) My curiosity got the better of me, though, so I answered her email and the rest is Coons (my maiden name) family history!  Ashley was, indeed, who she claimed to be and a very NICE lady, also.  We corresponded until Tootsie (the puppy she fell in love with) was old enough to be shipped to the Papelbon home in Mississippi in time for Christmas.  Tootsie joined Ashley, Jonathan and their other sweet little frenchie boy, Boss.  The whole experience was just incredible to me!  The fact that my pups attracted the attention of celebrities like Ashley and Jonathan was so flattering. The timing of the whole thing (selling a pup to the World Series winning pitcher the season after my "baseball crazy" brother had passed away) made me feel like  Joe was smiling down on me :)  It was just a very special time in my life, both as a breeder AND as a sister.  This season, I have a NEW favorite baseball team! I think even Joe, the die hard Cardinal fan, would approve of my choice.   GO RED SOX!!!!

Pictures of Zoe

Friday, 4 July 2008 22:26 by Rosemary

Raquel,Zoe's owner, sent us new pictures of Zoe (Willow & Czar puppy).  She was born October 4th of 2007.  Zoe was a deep red , gorgeous puppy.    You never know what a puppy is going to look like for sure when they grow up,but Zoe is obviously becoming a mirror image of her daddy, Czar.  At only 9 months of age, she looks more "bully" than a lot of fully mature frenchies! Zoe has QUITE the life with Raquel and Frank in sunny California, too :)  What a lucky little girl!

Raquel, thank you for the amazing pictures!  They are always welcome.

We Love Cotons!!!

Thursday, 3 July 2008 21:48 by Rosemary

We are very proud of our Cotons.  We have three gorgeous girls (Daisy, Sunny, Lilly) and one adorable, tiny stud (Ozzie).  The Cotons are very friendly little fur balls.  They (just like the french bulldogs) LOVE the humans.  They're such delightful little clowns!  Ozzie will walk across the family room on his back legs and he has the cutest little bark (bow bow bow booow).  Just like the frenchies the cotons love to lay on your lap (Sunny will lay anywhere there is room left).  The Cotons do not shed and if they get muddy outside and you wait until it dries, it will brush right off.

We've sold our Cotons all over the US. (Pennsylvania, Georgia, California, Illinois).  We have just sold two of them to a nice lady from Denmark.  She will be coming to the Ranch to pick them up!!!  Can you believe that? With one of our frenchie babies (Coco) in the Honduras and now our coton pups going to Denmark, we feel like we're making friends all over the world!

Our Cotons are APRI registered and descended from some VERY nice European bloodlines (Woodland Cottage, Cotonbrie, Cotonnerie).  4 out of 8 of our pups' great-grandparents are Imperial or International champions.

Please see our page About Cotons De Tulear for more information

We Love Frenchies!!!

Wednesday, 25 June 2008 21:11 by Rosemary

There is just something very special about French Bulldogs that you can't really understand until you are owned by one. Wink They are very human oriented.  They absolutley love us (humans)!  They all want to lay on someone's lap. Its not unusual to have three or four of my frenchies on my lap at one time.  Don't be surprised to find your Frenchie watching TV:)  All of our Frenchies  give the people they love a "love bite".  EVERY frenchie we own does this:  they'll gently grab your earlobe with their lips for just a second. It really took us by surpise the first time it happened, but now we look forward to this little show of affection. They're aways so careful to be gentle no matter how excited they are! Just another of their many delightful little quirks :)

Below you will find my first Frenchies.  Please go to our Website to see lots of pictures of our Frenchies.  Go to our Frenchie Photo Gallery Page and click on the pictures of the dogs and you will be taken directly to that dog's page.

PurseyPurslane (Pedzhi) (Aka Pursey, Pedroyal, My Lady Pedroyal, Chirpie), our first Frenchie will let you pull her around on a leash.  I know that you think that  I mean drag her while she is wearing the leash.  But really what I mean is if you dangle the end of the leash in front of her she will grab on to the end of the leash with her teeth.  If you then start to pull the leash tight she will lay on her side (or stomach) and she will let you pull her around the house on her side or stomach (we call it the grinchie!).  Her father is the Russion champion Super Bulli Le Monarchia Mirabeau

Jazz And Pursey

Jasmine (Aka Jazz, Biggs, Biggies, Bigglesworth, Lavendar Biggs) loves to play the a game with the bone.  If you walk into the room and you look at her and say "Where's the Bone?"  She will run around the house looking for the bone.  If you come home from the store she will be at the gate excited and she will say "I love you".  It is really easy to understand it when she says it.  She will go into a howling mode if she hears the theme from the Rosanne Barr show or the "There Aint No Bugs On Me" song.  If she is outside and the song comes on she comes running in howling at the TV.  Her father is the famous Imogenes Just my Style (Styles).

Lacey Lacey (Shepard's bulldog Liza) is our resident goof ball.  She is a ball of energy and it is funny to watch.  We got Lacey from Hungary.  The day we brought Lacey home our area was hit by two tornadoes.  She was trying to tell us something was wrong she was a nervous wreck.  We thought that it was just because we just brought her home.  But she was not like that afterwards.  Lacey's father is the Hungarian champion Questor Von Glandorf.

czar as a puppy Czar (Red Bourbon Josef Le Rua) is the world's most perfect dog!!  He actually has manners.  If you are eating something he won't bother you.  He will sit near you and look at you every once in a while.  If you offer him something he will come over to you and grab whatever you have so gently out of your fingers.  He is a very special dog and we feel so lucky that we were able to purchase him.  His father is the Russian champion Etual Nuar Favorit D J Jeep.
